Hmmmm... I think that's rather insulting! I've checked our guidelines and footwear is optional so absolutely fine to wear work boots! Also - hard hats are recommended... same as in every showing class. As far as I can see, apart from gradings, it is only recommended that whites are worn. In our Championships however we will stipulate that whites are worn. Anyway! We've debated this well and there are points for each side. Let's move on please. We will not be changing our turnout recommendations any time soon. If you're that much against wearing whites then don't compete. If you want to give it a go then you're more than welcome! P.S. you can easily find white jeans in the GAP sales and SSH sell white sweatshirts although of course these are not a compulsory purchase and you don't get more marks for being corporate! C'mon claire, no insult intended, dont be so touchy, surely a bit of criticism is acceptable? especially when it affects everyone ? Apology accepted I think you'll see from all my responses that constructive criticism is actively sought and wholeheartedly accepted!!

iv followed this for a few days now but this is the first iv been able to get on the laptop to respond properly.
i actually dont mind wearing the whites and have never questioned it at all as it is the rules after all. one would never question the rules of showjumping or dressage attire so why this? to be honnest i think it looks really smart and is much more comfortable than, say wearing a shirt and tie and a tweed jacket. i graded two stallions and been to the loose jumping and age classes and been to many SSH events tospectate and have never heard anyone complain about the 'whites' i wore joddy boots not trainers and i wore my hat. i got a pair of trousers in the charity shop and a mans skinny jumper in primark lol this defo has to be my most bargain 'horsey' outfit ha ha.
and quite frankly, this is'nt a showing class really is it? well the grading and loose jumping isnt.
so bring on the Whites ha ha ha
although i have to say i quite fancy all the sparkley fancy stuff the arab folk get to wear lol, Claire can we get some bling in the guide lines please hee hee

Oh, I dunno, a wee bitty of bling to go with the chavvy white will look just perfick - soon everyone would relate chavwear and bling to sports horse classes. why not?? like some people say its about being identifiable

Now we're chavs... Showjumpers usually wear white breeches. As do many affiliated dressagers. And there's more and more bling everywhere including in the show ring. I'm off to add - "It is compulsory for all exhibits to have glittered hoof varnish, coloured browbands and eye make up" to the schedule for the Foal Show.

You forgot the compulsory extra tight breeches, bright pink nail varnish, extra long eyelashes, hair extensions and gold and silver sparkly plaiting thread! ;D

Erm and you also forgot the 20 Benson and Hedges fags ( in the gold packet of course) the can of Tennants Lager ( in the gold, oopsy yellow tin), and of course the Gold/Orange tinted skinned granny/mother/trainer who deems their knowledge above all others - despite never having entered a class and jumped a horse - but feels that being old gives them them right to be self righteouss and patronising. Give me a Chav any day of the week ;D LOL

With the showing trends for co-ordination do you think we could see a fashion for matching your tan/hair to your horse colour? ;D

i'd have to dye my hair white as i dont take a tan - but it would have to have brown flecks through it for matching my freckles lol
