It would be great to have an M&M panel or ex-panel judge come and judge. Please Tweeds PM me and I will make the contact so that you may be invited to judge next year then hopefully there will be no complaining about the judging (except from all who didn't get the red rossie or the dozens of judges outside the ring ) This is meant to be a friendly and welcoming show to give everybody some fun showing off their ponies or horses. Everybody involved works really hard to try and make it that way. This thread isn't really giving that impression.

Tweets, are you not aware that times have changed? It is the society's that have introduced score sheets not just random judges choosing to use them. What gives you the right to state younger judges have no idea. Everyone has to start somewhere, can you not remember your first judging experiences? Even if they where in the age of the dinosaurs!
I really feel sorry for Lesley having to read this utter tripe when she has put so much effort in to the running of this show. Atleast somepeople had a great show and I hope Lesley ignores these negative statements and focuses on the positives and running the show next year.

My grumble was no sash for the reserve in-hand champion.... Again is is the taking part that counts.. With out shows like the Grandslam where would we be... Have to say I did think that I would have been gutted to get reserve and no sash, but I'm assuming there was a reason for it. I can only hazard a guess that sponsorships and the like were down this year. I'm also highly amused at Tweeds comments. So far, it's wrong to penalise an obese animal as it's not a welfare issue, but propaganda and a good memory is a key quality in a judge. I'll never make a judge in that case lol!

Tweeds, i hope you are happy in just how many folk you've upset with your posts, as i can only assume that was your only aim - i cannot see what else you wanted to achieve by bitching as much as you have If you have resigned from your judging panel, then that totally negates your right to be a ringside judge as well. So please, keep your petty, hurtful, and totally dubious opinions to yourself? Many thanks

I had a great day too, and look what a debate its caused, many people darent or wont comment for fear of backlash, I have nothing to loose so if you need to justify some of the judging by calling me names if it makes you feel better, then go ahead . Still it was a beautiful location - and a real learning curve not in a positive way, I wish you all a good night, well done to all the winners , I'm now pondering on my next show visit, and will report afterwards, bet you cant wait lol. Just my teeth to put in the jar at the side of my bed and my zimmer to put away , us oldies you know just cant stand the pace, I'd say something about my glasses and no I dont need new ones - but the m&m ridden judge certainly did lol, I saw a couple of disgruntled exhibitors approach her as her pal was stood right next to me, but not having my hearing aid in missed what was said, us oldies eh ..................

I think we will all look forward to it. I have no problem with people having an opinion, it is a forum and it certainly has been interesting reading but I think you could have been a bit more diplomatic in the way it was put accross.

i for one was not at the show but have only heard great things about how it was run etc as it always is ;D ;D
the judges are always very carefully picked by an experience person, aka Lesley.
you state that you were unhappy about the sports horse champion. can you kindly then revel who would have been your champion and reserve then? obv these are completly your opinion which you are entitled to. for what its worth i heard the foal showed itself off very very well

Tweeds, a lot of your musings make total sense, but................ if they were constructive, not so "direct" or erm ,, "abusive" at times, some of the members on here could potentially LEARN ?? from you, maybe you could share your tips...?? in a less provocative way ... and be heard - in the way that senior judges aspire to pass knowledge on thats how I learnt

well i really enjoyed the show by they way! Ruby and i did really well in the workers in the morning but we were just not the judges cup of t in the M&M ridden classes, how did i find this out i waited till the end of class as the rosey were handed out and asked polietly if there was anything we did wrong or could improve on, judges answer just not her type but she was well presented, in turn i thanked her for telling me and smiled, i am just so worried that judges are just not going to give you any feed back anymore because they seem to be getting attacked for their choices i paid for opinion and got one.

I did tell you I was controversial and outspoken , no offence meant, the sports horses?? well in my opinion no matter how cute the foal was, he had a hernia which is hereditory, do you sports people on here look to him as a future stallion? would you breed from him, is he the best of the decade of horses put before the judges ( taking into account there were mares foals yearllings 2 and 3 yrs old ) is the best scotland has to offfer after all the qualifiers and hype a 4 week old colt foal with a fault? If so what future for scotland and how do they expect to compete internationally with home bred stock ? I didnt watch the whole championship, so didnt study what was put forward or much of the classes to be honest, just saw the result, and yes the little guy did a turn when he was let loose in the arena - were the other foals offered the same opportunity to really let go- either in the class or championship? If you attempt to show as in Europe then do it for all not just a select one!!! showing must be fair for all, and each exhibitor given the same respect and chance to prove themselves, and if an exhibitor isnt happy they should be able to approach the judge - no problem with that, but the judge must have given them the same chance down the line as the ones at the top, everyone pays the same entry fee.
Judges give their opinion , and thats just what it is or should be, spectators should be able to follow a good judges pattern and agree to a degree as they see just the same from outside the ring as the judge sees inside - thats if the judge is paying attention . I'm not gping further into what I saw on the day only to say, it really didnt match up to expectations and from my point of view had I been exhibiting I wouldnt have been happy - plus I'd have probably missed my classes due to no tannoy being outside. still onwards and upwards, looking forward to the next show in October . Best not report though I dont think you all really approve of my comments.

I've been called worse, isnt everyone involved with horses the same ? whatever dottled is, I take its not complimentary , and yes I enjoyed the show . I'll enjoy the one in October too. Dottled or not , I still bred royal international supreme, royal, royal welsh, gt yorks, newark, royal highland, olympia and many more champions and supremes , plus topped many breed sales, so perhaps dottled aint so bad, perhaps I could bottle dottle ?
