The venue has been given the all clear but the event has been cancelled due to "concerns from competitors".
What gets me is that surely the organisers should have arranged another venue as a contingency plan in case this one was not clear??
Also, the selection process that has been decided on is very unfair. The letter states that whoever got the best mark in qualifying will go forward to the champs. How is that fair when those that qualified did so under different judges with different marking structures??

No they havent, Another case was found! They asked if we could hold the regionals but we are holding the showing clinic this weekend, thankfully, God it would have been mad holding it here, I would have cried with stress! Did something like this not happen 2/3 yrs ago, with a big show been held at gleneagles then having to be cancelled because of a strangles outbreak! I think they are putting the people with the highest scores through and not going to bother holding the regionals, Which is so gutting for people who have been building themselves up to this,

Nope, according to the letter from BD they could not find anywhere to hold as it would have had to have been within the next couple of weekends. This is why they are offering slots at the Champs to the combinations that got the highest mark in qualifying.
I still think they should have done something about an alternate venue at the start of the original outbreak.
As gf said extremely gutting if you had been preparing for this and are now going to lose out just because you qualified with a lower mark.

that is a bit off - fair enough cancelling them if strangles outbreak still in the area but i am sure they could find some other venue to hold them at - as for using the highest Q mark surely that is wrong??

They surely cannot take the highest Q mark - that really not fair at all!!

Yes it is definetly not fair, one of the judges has been dishing out really high marks recently, a horse got 82% that usually gets up to 68% or so, but it is not consistently getting those marks form every judge. So just shows how this system is far from fair. If they have to do it this way then it should be from the average percentage for the whole season, they used to do that on the old BD website so it can;t be that difficult.
Off to check my qaulifing scores, me thinks it was 66% & 68% so that is me out!

Coral Mitchell and Jackie Gordon had both qualified and Coral especially was gutted to hear it had been cancelled. She was borrowing my car and Sarah to groom for her and they were so excited but now so disappointed!! How they can decide on the highest qualifying scores being the ones they put through, I don't know. As PP says, all the judges mark differently!!

it woud be a bit fairer to take an average over the WQ's classes but that can still be unfair - surely they could find another venue in Scotland?

Sorry but can I politely suggest that the inability to find another venue is a load of horse manure & is a useful excuse - we have dozens of competition venues in Scotland with indoor & outdoor schools - there are at least 4 in the NE alone.
Seems a completely stinking way of deciding who goes through as well - the season's average would seem to be a much better indicator of how a pair has done.
