Oooh, and what's a thorowpin and what do they look like so if I can see if Comet has any? A thoroughpin is a swelling in the hock - it looks like a big pin and can be pushed from one side of the leg to the other....usually sits just above the hock.

And all Highlands have them Did Jill suggest that? AFAIK it's a sign of poor hock conformation, and I imagine a fair number of Highlands will have them, but not all!

I must go around checking now though! They do tend to have fairly hefty, fleshy hocks so I guess that would encourage them. Pleased to say none of my Fells have 'em!

We had a really good day, lots of good advice but god it was cold couldnt have even logged on last night after the clinic I was on the go at 4.30 am and after we had dropped jessi and co off at home got back at 7.30 pm quite a long day then had to muck hay and see to the rest of them ! to say I was a bit rubbered is an understatement ;D I need to relax and let him go...easier said than done! and child just need to use her long legs and we need to change bit on her pony.

Well i had a great day and learned loads. Jill reiterated some stuff that my instructor has been yelling at me for ages, so i might just do what i'm told from now! Good fun day out.
