Haha just noticed this thread.........seen that list before and Scottish enough to understand it all............although Aberdeen born and bred few people think I sound from this area - often mistaken for having a slightly west coast lilt..........apprently when I'm drunk I sound more Orkadian.........go figure !!! haha....

Oh crikey I was able to read the dundee story without thinking.I was brought up with the Courier,the telegraph and the Sunday Post.Plus I went to schoolin Dundee.Though Im from Blairgowrie so some things said in Dundee means something else in Perth.

Now some of those I recognise Highlander but our local Doric lad hasn't come out with some of them. Every now & again he says something & I have to ask him what the f he means - dobs was the last one I think. Clattie we know as clarty - Lancastrian but means the same thing. Some of the words, once you know the meaning are easy to suss out - ganzie could easily be a misspell of guernsey as in jumper. Though just how do you get cattle from nowt???
