Just like the Dressage sub-board, thought we needed another sub-board for all the other disciplines, so they don't get lost in the showing stuff ;D Please post all Show Jumping, XCountry, Endurance, etc. results and chat in here ;D

Hi, Jayne who is a member here (quigonjinn) is very experienced with Trec. She'll be able to give you loads of info and details I'm sure. I too would love to try it. Fee

I remember when I first started looking for houses up here I came up via Glen Tanar & there was a Le Trec comp going on - first time I'd ever seen it & I've always wanted to do it. Watson - do they still run them over there as I've never seen any comps listed anywhere? Just got to convince Magnus that not everyone or everything is out to get him - he's getting better at not panicking when I lie down his shoulder to go under low branches but I'm still not convinced about his ground tieing.

thats really interesting, thanks. What about jumping though, we can manage to climb over things or go round but have to close my eyes if its a proper jump cos I'm not very brave.

I survived years of pony club ht/ode going ooh or aargh over every jump, saying steady for the entire xc on my big lad who was only cantering & closing my eyes over just about every jump I ever did. Even now I grab a huge lump of mane with Magnus - dead handy having a native as noone can tell. ;D

I entered a Le Trec at Glen Tanar a few years ago but they cancelled it due to lack of interest and I believe that was the end of it?
greynag - I think there is a fair amount of jumping in Le Trec, but it can be very small at like 2'3 I think and doesnt get beyond 3'3 at the highest level (having never done it, I may be well off!)?
So what non-showing disiplines does everybody do?

I think the jumps are optional in Trec as well - you can take the maximum penalties I think.
Well we do showing of course, we hopefully will do some pleasure rides/low level endurance, dressage, sj & combined training this year & I'd love to have a go at side saddle once he's fit & Jane can fit him in.
I think he'd also look good Western so that's possibly an option for a few years time.
If I had a suitable pony & the time I'd love to do driving trials.

Hi Effiebox, There are Branches of Serc covering all areas of Scotland. Depends exactly where you are based- regardless you can ride at any branch as non member and as a Member of one Branch you can ride in another. I love doing 'away' rides and have made some very very good longstanding friends through doing it- as well as good friends in my own Branch. Have a look at some of the Branches Websites as well as the Main Serc Website- most of them are very good and have good information. Links to them are from here. www.scottishendurance.com/Branch.htmlRide dates for 2008 should be posted soon on Main Serc webiste as well as the Branches ones. There are early season rides on 13th Jan at Palnure and 20th January at Aberfoyle- don't know any more about them as I am not from down that way- have just read they are on- weather permitting! Have fun,
