If you are under 16, can we please ensure there are no close-up face photos in sigs. There is lots of information available on here regarding where you live, where you go to school, where you keep your horse!!
A lot of us on here know each other, but there could be UNFRIENDLY WEIRDOS lurking! The information available on here does not make it too difficult for you to be tracked down!
PLEASE - be careful. Someone lurking around your school or your yard to could recognise you. It's a NASTY world out there with some seriously EVIL people and we want SSF to be a safe place.
Moderators WILL remove offending photos - if YOU don't care about your safety, we do!
For over 16s it is still recommended that you don't post close-ups but you are all old enough to make a more informed decision!

Weirdos will go into any site. Remember that general chat is seen by anyone, whether a member or not, but members chat is a bit more secure as you need a password. I would suggest that any threads that contain personal information, however innocently, should really be in the members areas

It is sad to think these weirdos are even entering this type of site Nobody is saying they are - but they could be and we might not be aware of it.

Please also be aware that unless we know each other in person & fortunately most of us do know at least one other person on here who's in our area, we have no idea who we're conversing with. People can seem completely normal & friendly for their 20 posts, get the password & then they have all that information at their fingertips. Please do not publicly state your msn, skype etc contacts & anyone posting these sort of details on the board that is known to be under 18 will have those details removed. It is for your own safety. I'd suggest you pm contact details & until you know the person you're pm'ing is what they say they are do not volunteer exact location details etc. If you have any doubts at all about a person see if there's someone else in their area on the board & ask them if they know them or ask the mods. Neurotic mother wishing you all well.

Sadly not Rufus. I became aware that certain personal details were being posted that could be used by the unscrupulous of the world - this is after all a public forum - you only need to apply, make your 20 posts, get the password & you're into the whole forum. Better safe than sorry.

v8kate: you are so right! I have seen really vitriolic attacks on other sites on people and ponies by folk who you would think were so above any such behaviour It is very sad that honour and integrity seem to be the last to be considered
