I think it is less stressful for horse and owner not pulling!

My personal opinion having been to a couple of shows would be that a pulled tail looks more professional than a plaited tail and as I can't plait a tail its out of the question!! It currently takes me between 2 - 3 hourse to plait a mane!!

I now hate plaited tails even on youngsters but thats MHO, and a pulled/raked tidied tail looks much better. I am also lazy and crap at plaiting tails.

I hate to see yealings tails squared off at the bottom, same goes for foals. I also think a nicely pulled tail - no matter how its done looks far better than a plaited one - but this is just my opinion.

If pulling youngsters tails you need to watch you dont end up with the tail growing in white.

I am about to start the raking of my yearlings tails - they have been fine with the manes being pulled, so hopefully the tails will be easy.

i debated last year about enya's tail ended up plaiting it (i like plaiting so was happy to do it) it looked fine but by september for the grand slam she was more mature looking so it got pulled by a rake i prefer the look of a pulled tail but on a yearling i dont think it really matters so long as its neat - its now raked again for this year
