I tried elastic but never liked it. For some reason I can't ever get my rossies (if I get any) to stay on it, they always ping off. Tried plaiting threat the other day and had the same problem. I usually do the exact same as v8Kate with some ribbon./

I know, but with ribbons you only need to do it once Yip, but ribbon says "yoo hoo, I'm a bit of ribbon", whereas elastic is much more discreet!

So how wide is the elastic then? - my brown ribbon is only half a cm wide - just enough to go through the holes easily. I always lose my rosettes so have to stick them through a buttonhole & hope for the best - wouldn't mind but I don't get enough to risk losing them.

I wasn't getting at anyone who chooses to use ribbon (or maybe I was but not in a horrible way!), but I do think elastic is much more professional.

Glancing through old photos, I disagree. When I used elastic it didn't look as neat in my opinion (but hey, thats what opinions are for. World would be kinda boring without them). Don't worry kermie, I know your not getting at me.
However, it could also be cause my jackets a little bit big currently (due to my lack of anything in the chest department), and the elastic seems to pull it in and make it sit wrong, in comparision to ribbon.
In the end, I've currently lost my ribbon AND elastic, so until I get our of my lazy exams are over mode and go up the road to buy ribbon or elastic, it'll be plaiting threat I'm using anyway.
