I've got one that is ready-tied that doesn't look bad...but I did look at loads before getting it. I'm only likely to wear it a couple of times so it was an easier option than faffing about and not being happy with the result - much easier to tie a windsor knot!

When exactly is is correct to wear a stock? I got a nice one as a present (ready tied, i must confess!) but each time someone asks "tie or stock" they seem to be told "tie".

I bought a beautiful stock a few years ago at Badminton and I love it and wear it everywhere - but seeing as I mainly do SJ or ex racehorse showing classes it hasn't ever been an issue. I wore it to the spring FOC and nobody said anything to me, but then again Brian was so naughty the judge didn't come too close enough to talk to me at any time LOL
It is a pain to tie but is made of lovely thick material so you get a great knot and shape from it.

That was a really good link! People have tried to explain to me how to tie a stock, but I never got it I must learn better from pictures ;D. Printed it out so that I can keep it for future use ;D
