Sorry to those who have read this on SR
Well! Our impulse purchase of a double bridle off Ebay came through this morning and, being the childishly impatient sort of person I am, I legged it out to the yard, nabbed a rather indignant beast (Mum! It's not coming in time yet ) in from the field and whacked it on him
It all fits rather nicely, including the bits and, for a brat that's never had a double (or a pelham for that matter) in his gob, he took it rather nicely ;D The first time I stuffed it in his gob, he did spit it straight back out but he then decided that perhaps it was just a bit wierd, and let me faff and get it adjusted properly.
So I took it back off, went for a coffee and did various things, then - never one to waste an opportunity - whacked it back in and took him on a hack He didn't give two hoots, was mouthing it nicely and still felt more than capable of spooking and being a prat
I came back from our hack and though - ahhh, what the hell and took him into the school for 10 minutes ;D Still no curb rein pressure at all, but we did a walk, trot, canter and extension on each rein and he went really nicely, considering he hasn't been schooled in a few weeks ;D ;D ;D
So, my pony got lots of kisses and a HUGE fuss made of him (until he got that look of 'Gawd, the woman's finally lost the plot ' on his face ) and I'm a very proud mummy! He looks soooo grown up and handsome in it, as well (even if I do say so myself ) Pictures will come when I can find someone to take them ;D
