Or sh*tlands as I more affectionately call them (this is not meant offensively, I call my own horse much worse) I got a random text message today from someone asking about a coloured browband for a sh*tland. It shows in-hand apparantly. And she was wanting colours advice (which I can give her). But just a quick query - are you meant to show sh*tlands in coloured browbands? Any knowledge appreciated ;D

I wouldn't, it is difficult to get a good head on a shettie something you really don't want to draw attention to. A lot are shown with brass clencher or brass rosette however I would generally opt for a plain browband.

That's kind of what I thought! However, if she is wanting to spend her money at GOTK's house of browbands, I won't stop her. I will advise her that it's not usual before telling her possible colour combos - I'm a nice person Thanks BRS

It isn't completely unheard of there is a minority who do it especially in miniatures, as it is cheap to buy small bridles from our European neighbours, the downfall is the tack browbands and they usually come with dropped nosebands. I show one mare with brass rosettes on her browband but only because I think she has a nice head on her.

Maybe they want a browband for doing classes such as Best Child's Pony or something like that

NO coloured browbands for shetlands, but if its got a pretty head try some of the brass type ones.

Years ago a few people tried to get it into the society showing rules that coloured browbands shouldn't be allowed as certain studs had a habit of sending thier ponies out in the same colours so they were recognisable to the judge - never came to anything though
