Hi everybody just had great news, Blair Castle will being giving their charity proceeds to Equine Grass Sickness Fund this year. I have also been asked if my big fella would like to attend the survivors parade to be held on the Saturday 26th August, which he will, fingers crossed. So if you know of anyone with an ex grasser can you pass the info on as Dick Vet want as many to attend as possible. Interested parties can contact the Blair Castle office Pammy

Thats great news Pammy thanks for bringing the topic up - I got a leaflet through the other day about this. I'm hoping to be able to do a stint on their stand there this year. Will be such a "lump in the throat" sight watching the survivers parade for many people. Glad you are hoping to make it with your boy.

Hi Susers, glad to hear you will be helping out, it is such a worthy cause. Will maybe see you up there as I and the family also helping out as well as the parade and possibly entering the ridden hunter. Although not sure about that now as would have to travel up on thursday and saturday and that may be too much for Roods. Will wait and see. ;D

Sounds like a busy weekend for you Pammy! I hope to go down on the Thursday to see the Highland classes and hopefully the Saturday for the parade. Hopefully EGS being the chosen charity this year will go a long way to raising it's profile. It always amazes me when I am fundraising how little people know about it. Then again I suppose I didn't really know a great deal either until it was too late.

In a sad way I was lucky when Roody came down with it, as since a child I had seen it strike so many times. I think we just live in a realy bad area. Plus my mum worked in yards that were prone to it. I take it you lost one?

Breeders/friends I worked for have lost a few to it, the most recent being last year. Being involved with the horses they lost was as bad as loosing my own. I have seen it first hand too many times now. Always hits so quickly and you can't help but sit and think that you should have spotted it sooner or done something differently. We do fundraising locally every year now and try to tell as many people as possible in the north-east about it.

That's great news that Blair are going to feature EGS. We'll be there to cheer you on. My previous YO had a horse that survived and I saw the pictures taken at the Dick Vet and it was awful. When I last saw him he was 14 but still extremely difficult to feed and keep weight on. Don't know where he is now as YO moved up north and took him with her.

Dear K211 and Susers. It is nice to know you will be up at Blair and hope we can all meet up for a chat. Could also do with moral support, as I think I will need it! Roody will either be perfect in the parade or he will have a hairy fit. But what the hell he is enjoying life and thats what counts.

I'm hoping to get down for a couple of days to see the showing, haven't been to Blair for ages, so would be lovely to know someone taking part in the parade - glad to hear your boy recovered Pammy Hey Susers, fancy another trip in the lorry ?! If we can get someone to drive it lol!

Thanks everyone for the support, I will need it as I will be a nervous wreck! I do not mind though as it will be Roody's day and all the other survivors. Just look out for a 17hh chestnut hunter called Downfield Gemaris and a rather white faced, perplexed mother on board! Thinking Oh God behave yourself!!!!!
