Hi puddledub. Here is a couple of pictures to let you see what he looks like. He's a 15.2 coloured. Down as a cob. And a section D. I am hoping to get to the coloured class at wellbank with him. But none of us have been showing before. Although my friends have and I have once been a steward, but I have never been in with my own horse lol. Yeah hopefully becca. I am so looking forward to it.

Welcome He looks lovely. A couple of close up, standing square pictures will help folk give advice. Certainly from those shots I would be tempted to pull his mane and aim for Small Hunter or Small Riding Horse along with your coloured classes. You would also have Riding Club horse and Working Hunter as well

He doesn't look anything like a gypsy Cob, which are a lot heavier and gave a lot of father, and although one parent could be a Welsh section d, he obviously can't be with his colour, nor type. He looks a real quality sort, and to me looks a " pulled and plaited" job. There are lots of little unaffiliated shows around, which are a good place to start and most will have inhand and ridden coloured classes. He should have his tail pulled and cut square, his mane pulledto a neat level so he can be plaited, and his heels and whiskers trimmed. As has been said there are also Riding Club Horse classes, small riding horse etc as well working hunter if he jumps.

I know he doesn't fit a cob puddledub. Which is why I laughed as he is no more a cob than a goldfish lol. His mane has been pulled now and also trimmed his whiskers and feathers. These pics were taken when he was unloaded and introduced to his new home. I have never jumped him so I think I will leave that one out for the time being. I am hoping to get him chaps registered. I am thinking of sports classes and coloured but again I am unsure. I am currently getting his passport amended as I know full well he is not cob. I would guess Irish sports horse possibly trotter. But that's a pure guess. I have no breeding other than he's got a Gypsy Cob passport with type D in it! And its plain to see for everybody he sure aint a cob!!!

Sounds like you are doing all the right things! He looks lovely, so hope to see you out and about sometime. Don't worry too much about who the passport was issued by, if you don't know his breeding then the passport is really only to identify him by microchip and to record vaccinations. Overstamping by CHAPS is a good idea if you plan to do quite a lot with him, but other than HOYS qualifiers you can compete in all their classes with no need for registration or membership

Aww that's great news puddledub. I was wondering what limitations I would come across. I really want to do as much as I can with him as I don't want him becoming a field ornament, so really as much as possible. He is my very own first horse. I got him micro chipped when I got him registered at my vets and when he got his shot. The passport part is frankly scaring the crap out of me with the new passport thing now in place. Just I think purely because you see a cob passport and well you see for yourself that he sure the hell Aint one lol. I am setting a target to get myself up for taking him to the coloured show at well bank. Will you be going there? Its on the 6th July with a friend. If so we might see one another. It will be his first show too so things could get a little interesting. I was thinking of taking a lunge line just in case he gets heated up so I can work him to try and calm him down and get him to focus on me. Do you have any tips or what do you think. I have shown dogs before but never horses lol I am just trying to tell myself he's an oversized dog its cool lol.
