Please help! I am desperate to find a new farrier and would really appreciate recommendations. Tired of persevering with farriers that seem more concerned with gossiping than shoeing the horse!! Had issues lately with shoes coming off, feet being cut back too much and wrong size of shoes being used. Very frustrated with it all. Has anyone used Fraser Spittal or Alastair Smith? Or know if they are anyone good. Would really appreciate any advice at all. Any thanks

I only have experience of ponies of his own that Allie has shod, but they look pretty good, and the unshod ones look good too.

Fraser used to do my ponies when he was an apprentice... He always made a very good job of them then

Hi. Have had the same problems with the farriers ... And personally,to date, had disastrous consequences because of the incompetence, unprofessional and slapdash way the ones I have used. Also horrified to see how bad majority can be when working on other clients horses/ponies. Sometimes get the impression i am thought of as being overly fussy when it comes to my horses feet lol HOWEVER ..... regarding finding a good Farrier in this area, last week we - 3 owners with 4 horses on a private DIY yard /field - have contacted Fraser Spittal and he came out the next day to shoe 2 of them !! He is coming back Friday to rectifly one of mine who's not been dealt with properly after massive abscess damaged the coronary band ... all started off with inappropriate, severe trim when unshod nearly 2 years ago. Fraser seems very good, understanding and organised .... did a good job last week and got the feeling he was listening to what we said !! Hopefully we have found the right one at last .

I cannot fault Fraser, he is very good at what he does. He even came out to the yard one sunday morning to put a shoe back onto Troy as we had a lesson to go to that afternoon x

hi I use ewan Taylor he's great with tricky horses and youngsters and stressy types but best of all I've seen a massive difference in my horses feet shape turns out I was paying my previous Farier a lot of money for quite a shoddy job. I'm quite a loyal person and felt terrible for changing Farriers but glad I did
