as I've found out entries to be in soon, can anyone tell me costs? Do you need to have Pony, rider & owner registered with appropriate societies? (and what are they) 13.2 NFP, 13yo daughter very keen & wants to go just for the experience. sounds expensive and we're not reg with any of the soc's. Am confused by all the info rules on schedule LOL ( doesn't take much) Please help. The only positive is we're close to venue. Any info welcome, thanks.

Pony, owner and rider need to registered with Grandstand Media to get IDs as the M&M WHP class is a Horse of the Year Show qualifier. Owner also needs to be a member of an appropriate showing society, eg NPS (national), BSPS, PUK, the Showing Register or in your case the NF breed society......rider has to be a member as well except in your case as your daughter is a junior so it's not necessary. It will be quite expensive just to give it a go, as well as being quite a tough course since it is a major qualifier. I can't remember offhand how much classes are but I think it's around £40 for a non-member and maybe £25 for a member.....someone will probably know exactly how much. We do have a thread in the showing area to ask questions about RHS show, but you need to have made enough posts to access that area.

Thank you , looking like a trip to RHS for one class very expensive option, will try to persuade daughter that Dalkeith or Bigger a better option as at least you only have to register if you're placed and wish to go further ( I think)

That sounds like a better option, particularly if she isn't regularly doing WH classes - doing a HOYS course is quite a big ask. Maybe suggest she goes and watches this year instead and then she will know what she is aiming for.

Watched lots of years and pony/ rider have the ability to do jumping section but as pony not the trad WHP "Type" (Chestnut as well )and a bit long in the back even for a NFP -he'd fall down in the conformation part. Did his first workers end of last year at a local show with 3/4 in the class that had been up to Blair etc and he came 5th in a big class because his jumping looked as if he could go all day :-) Only considering it as local and it would be lovely for Daughter to say she'd been. Still hoping someone can give me an approx. amount re cost. I'll maybe phone someone to discuss if anyone can recommend the best person to contact please.

You could try PMing "muse" on here as he works for the office, but he may be up to his eyes in it! I'm sure you will be able to work out the costs if you visit the RHS website. I've just done my entries and I think it was £31.40 for my HOYS flat classes (which is a discounted cost due to being a member of RHS) so it will be around £45 plus membership of the appropriate society I think. You would also need to get the HOYS IDs but there is no cost attached to that.
