Hey all, this is my first homebred. Hopefully one of a few. Shes a connemara x tb, buckskin/dun filly. Should make 14hh prob a little more. Im thinking she should try hunter/riding pony? I have never shown before, not really, other than a few scottish sports horse classes. What are judges looking for in these classes. She is very straight in her movement and not flicky toed or huge striding but does have plenty lift and presene..all suggestions and ideas welcomed. Thanks in advance. Total Novice. Attachments:

Very exiting to be getting your first homebred out into the ring.
Riding Ponies (show ponies) are very fine and refined, so she wouldn't fit into that category.I would give SHP youngstock a go, although again you may find she doesn't quite fit the category a most at now very elegant in their movement whereas your wee girl sounds more workmanlike in her paces.
Many shows now hold part bred M&M classes, so provided rig have her registered a partbred connemara. These classes trend to be judged more on conformation and movement rather than type. Also do sport/competition pony classes where you can find them.
She will need to trimmed up and mane pulled and plaited, but I would keep tack plain and simple, no blingy browband.
Good luck and enjoy. If you get your post count up to 20 on here you will also have aces to a lot more boards including future shows etc, so get posting and you be able to get even more help from this forum. Welcome

Thanks for your reply..very helpful She is part bred reg Connemara too so that could be a plan. Will try the hunter pony too..all experience for her. Ideally i think she would make a fab pony club event pony. Just really want to produce a nice well mannered pony that can do a job.

Thanks ladies..her mum is a super mare, played polo too until she tore a tendon. She will be for sale but not until i know she is a well rounded, handled and mannered little filly that someones little girl or indeed even an adult can enjoy. Mum should be going to my own hanoverian stallion this year so fingers crossed for another cracker next yr.
