What class could I do with my boy? I've done Ridden M&M (He's a registered Section D) and M&M WHP, but decided this year to trim him up as we are planning on doing some dressage, etc and I have lots of little welshies to show this year. Have considered hogging him and doing Show Cob classes, but not sure I have the guts to do it!! Opinions please!

I can't see pics at work but IMO it would be VERY unusual for a Section D to move anything like a show cob so that wouldn't be something I would recommend.

Have put a pic of him moving. He doesn't have the typical Welsh Cob movement, but has always done well enough in the Showring. Here he is at Keith Country Show in 2009. He was Champion M&M. I not desperate to show him again, but was just curious what others thought.

Based on the pics I still would tend to agree with Kermie, he doesn't move like a show cob. I'd stick with SHP, Pony club pony, WHP with that turnout.
I'm not sure why you felt the need to trim him for dressage - plenty of natives compete in dressage au naturale.

The trimming is really more for convience, his feathers get very thick and hairy and are a nightmare in the mud. I am too old for both SHP and Pony Club Pony.

If he is under 15.2hh you could try small hunter. No age limit there.

There have been a couple of welsh cobs that have made top show cobs, I think Sue Rawding had one at one time, but would agree with kermie that that is unusual. Whatever class you decide, and I think small hunters would certainly the best 'fit' for him, then he will need to have his tail pulled hard and cut a lot lot shorter The mane and plaits look great though
