Hi everyone I am new to this forum and would like some advice for which class to enter my cob into, please. He is hogged and trimmed, 15.1hh and has 9.5" bone. Do I go for cob classes in which case is he a lightweight or heavyweight, or do I go for coloured classes? Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks Attachments:

Pic wont come up any bigger for me so hard to tell on what weight to do, but definitely give cob classes a go ... you will need a height certificate, so worth getting that organised as soon as possible as there are a few affiliated shows coming up soon and you will need JMB height certificate to register him and he needs to be registerd and you a member to able to do RIHS qualifiers, novice classes where available can be done on a day ticket You can also do the coloured classes (doesnt need to be an either/or, make the most of your fuel and do as many classes as feasible once you get to a show ) and if it is a show which splits the classes into type then you need to do the large native/traditional/cob class. From what my eyesight allows me to see in your piccie he looks a really nice type .... hope we see you out and about I dont know whereabouts you are but I have a wee 'flat' show at Sandyflat in Glasgow on 25 March with Cob class and also a baby/novice class which you might be eligible for. BSPS have RIHS qualifiers at Rowallan (3rd March I think) and the Grand Slam have RIHS cobs on East Weekend, I then also have Novice Cob and RIHS qualiifers at Ingliston on Monday 7 May .... so a few for you to think of ;D

Hi there What a lot on info, thank you so much! Here is another photo of Digby, hopefully bigger this time. I will certainly do the your show at Sandyflat, I'm nr Edinburgh. If I can work on his schooling a bit more I will certainly try the others. He is only 5 this year so a bit green and needs more work but very willing and tries his heart out for you! Attachments:

He is a nice looking type, and from that photo I would say he looks like a heavyweight, but a lot may depend on how he moves Handy that he is barefoot just now as they have to be without shoes for the JMB measuring, so if you plan to shoe him then it would be a good idea to have him measured first. There is a measuring pad and JMB vet at Tranent which should be handy for you if you are Edinburgh

Thanks for that, he has lovely movement, uphill and learning to use himself properly and lifts his shoulder nicely! For a cob he is very responsive and very clever!
That' s great that there is someone in Tranent, I will go and investigate further as I was thinking of getting him measured. He has never been shod so will probably not bother for now.
Getting excited already, would he qualify for the novice cob class?
