please excuse me if this is a silly question but what is the correct way to turn out a Haflinger, everything is natural I have never pulled her mane and tail only keep it tidy and dont trim her whiskers etc normally although we did shorten them a little when we clipped her? We are doing a show at the weekend and am planning to do tack and turnout, ridden pony and in hand, any tips fro in hand would be appreciated as she tends to go to sleep !!! thanks Haffymad

As far as I know Haffies are shown as they are naturally.... do not trim mane tail etc... That's how I have shown mine..... the key seems to be get the mane & tail as clean as possible! It makes them stand out a mile!!! Oh I so love my Haffie

Hi, My daughter has been showing her Haffie for a few years now and competed locally and and the Royal London Show getting first and second places which she was over the moon with. Manes and tails are kept quite natural not pulled or plaited and get them as white as possible we usually use a blue shampoo for this as he is a dirt searcher his tail usually gets washed a couple of days before the show and then the night before its done again. We sometimes cut a small bridle path so his bridle fits more neatly and yes we trim whiskers. He is shown both in hand and ridden in a pelham. Our Haffle is a nice light palomino wonderful for picking up stable stains overnight
