Hi everyone - I am showing a connie for a friend at the weekend and was needing some help please ;D 1) Can I get away with a brown tweed hacking jacket on a grey connie?? 2) How should pony be turned out? Blacked out hooves? Non plaited? I am a hairy traditional cob girl myself (they just come as they are!) so want to get the facts and turnout correct seen as I am riding for a friend!! ;D Any help would be most appreciated!!

I wreckon your tweed would be fine. Pony should probably be 'natural' as they are natives. What classes are you doing?

On the back of this thread, any seasoned connie showers give some more advice......I have always had welsh cobs but now proudly in possession of a lovely connie who I will do ridden showing with. My main query would be how much trimming etc to do of the mane and tail......?? As the cobs tend to be quite trimmed and pulled these days would rather be sure before I set on him with a pulling comb and scissors )

I thin and tidy the mane but not too short as sometimes one of mines is plaited .... the tail i pull brodies slightly at the top to show of his quarters but still keeping it natural looking and square the bottom off keeping it long. jawline I clip and trim the ears but not the insides just the excess from the outside .... whiskers should be left on ...again ive taken them off in the past if hes been doing plaited classes as well and i dont thinks its affected where we have been placed

We just going to get him out and about and the main thing is he behaves, enjoys himself and learns how to party like the rest of them

Dont overtrim - judges have now been told to mark ponies that are over trimmed. Good luck with your connies.

Thanks Sparkler, thats kinda what I thought as compared to the Cobs they don't tend to be so obviously trimmed up. Am looking forward to getting him out
