Does anyone think that appaloosa classes should be introduced to the royal highland show.

IMO I reckon Hacks and Cobs should be introduced before anything else.

Does anyone think that appaloosa classes should be introduced to the royal highland show. I think a show like the Highland should be trying to hold more 'HOYS' type classes, ie Cobs and Hack classes, before they go looking at other classes, IMO! But then I am a showing snob!

I dont think theres necessarily any snobbery about it I think they should introduce the most called for, 'high class' classes before they think about others. RHS is the top class show in Scotland & should cater for the highest class show classes, which IMO (and many others' ) are cobs & hacks - as Lavender said, HOYS classes

I know that this thread's a bit old now but I'm not sure that Appaloosa people are ready to go to the Highland yet! Too much difference in turnout to look right!
You can however enter your Appaloosa for the sports horse or hunter classes depending on his build. Not sure how well you'd be placed but it would definitely get us out there!

Only just seen this but agree with Clairie 100% Agree also. Turnout is an issue in Appy classes as there seems to be no rules. Plus I dont think there are enough serious show people with Appys out there to justify the classes. Agree that hacks and cobs would be much better supported.

I for one would love there to be spottie classes at the highland although like some above have said the chance is slim. I realy struggle in showing classes simply because of my horses colour which realy puts me off tbh and half the time were turned out far better than a lot of the other riders in the class further up the line.

being an Appy person, im probably a bit biased!! altough i must be honest- appy/spotted numbers in agricultural shows is a hit or a miss (sometimes only 2....) but i believe there to have been 8 or so at Fife which was great! but agree with others that cobs etc should be included first. for the appy/spotty showers- the Scottish Appaloosa breed show held nearer the end of the summer is a good showcase for the breed!

Can I put my twopence in..... all for cob classes at RHS as there are not enough cob classes in Scotland... but as the owner of a maxi cob, please don't limit it to open or novice cob classes....I have already written to the BSHS asking if they will be removing the height restriction to let the maxis in..... no reply yet lol, can but hope though!
