I was speaking to Joyce MacIntosh from the EGSF and she was saying a lot of scottish owners who have horses and ponies which get the disease do not fill in the form on the website so they can't keep track of outbreaks. They are getting the form back mainly from owners in the south.
She thinks people think the vet does it up here but they don't.
If you are in this sad situation please can you fill in the form on the EGSF website
I'm sorry to mention this- we really hope it won't happen but it is good to be able to do anything to beat this awful disease
Thank you from Joyce!

We were speaking to the lovely ladies on the EGSF stand at Blair and they too were saying the same thing. I didn't actually know the form existed, and my vet never mentioned it. I went online after Blair and filled it in. I think you can fill it in up to 5-6 years after the incident? I know they need the information to help guide field trials of any potential vaccines.

I'm going to sticky this for a while at least as it's an important thing for affected owners to do if possible.

I agree 100% its a awful disease, and at the moment impossible to prevent. I hope that soon changes, and i'll do eveything in my power so no horse of mine suffers that awful disease. IT was awful seeing Tilly suffer.

I have just this morning had to PTS my old connemara with grass sickness. I can honestly say it was a blessing to see her gone as this is such an awful and devastating disease.

I lost my 5yo warmblood gelding to grass sickness one day he was absolutely fine n the next he couldnt stand up, I was so anoyed though the edinburgh dick vets took over an hour to examine him, I just cant beleive they dont have a cure yet, I kept thinking if they didnt take so long fafing about they could be helping him. I did a fund raising silence and raised £250 for grass sickness fund I just wish everyone could do this and maybe help horses in future.

Currie I've tried to complete the questionnaire on-line but when I tried to send it, it wouldn't accept it. Tried a couple of times but same message came back
