Well, things are finally looking up on the dressage front after what seems like a hard few months following xmas. Due to the weather/snow and doing some decorating etc, Dom had quite a few weeks off at the start of the year and I didn't realise just how much work it would take to get back to where we left off Our Scottish farmer prelim final back in march just about had me ready to give up as both myself and Dom were not on form at all. (Nuff said but let's just say probably amongst our worst public performances ) However we continued to work away and are now back on track (touch wood ;D). So...thought it was time to try a novice Duly learned novice 24 and popped along to Greenfields last weekend. Dom and I had a brilliant warm up prelim and i was grinning like a cheshire cat until a pretty major hiccup.... Competitor before me went in only to be told that they were doing the wrong test, apparently there is a new 2010 version of novice 24.....and of course both her and myself had learned the old one! ;D Cue lots of sweary words and a panic stricken rider - was allowed another 15 minutes to go away and see if I could practise the new test (with movements I could hardly even understand ). However somehow managed to fumble my way through the test and got 63 % and a third place (out of 5). Pretty chuffed although really not how I had planned to start my novice career ;D. So, now to get a few more under my belt. Poor Dom wishes his mum preferred the jumpies though

Well done Summer and Dom - especially as you would have been so stressed/nervous/frustrated with not knowing the right test, so that is a very very good score indeed I know how you feel about being off form - Toby and I last summer seemed to just go separate ways and it never came together Glad you are back on the right track now though ;D

It's always nice to know when others are going through the same as yourself Oldmoss and Magic - we should have started our own wee self help support group and had a weekly dressage moaning session ;D ;D ;D
I'm realising more and more why they call it stressage!
The really frustrating thing was that the new updated test was actually easier than the old one - sod's law! ;D

Well done Summer and Dom. That is a great result for your first Novice.
Will need to get all the Prelim and Novice tests before Dante and I start going out again as I can see that happening to use.

I am so fed up with dressage that we are doing a bit more showing now which I am really enjoying! But its good to know that you can come through it and come out the other side you will be our inspiration The novice tests are good fun! When is your next one?

Probably not until June as I am planning to get out to do some showing in May. Hoping for a visit to Rowallan in June.
And Penllys, I know it took me ages to post, not enough hours in the day just now! Got a Katie lesson tomorrow, yippee looking forward to it ;D

Lyna this test suited us pretty well, two different opportunities to stretch his neck - free walk on a long rein and 20m circle on a long rein, Dom thought his luck was in! Nose to ground is his forte wee monkey ;D ;D
