I'm sitting here filling in my SNEC entry for dressage in just over a week.
I'm doing P10 but I had hoped to possibly also do my first Novice test - novice 20.
RI thinks we would be worth giving it a try but I've never done a novice before, not had a look at the test yet and also don't have an arena to school in so other than the 2 trips to my friend yard to use her school I won't be able to school him in preparation.
Do I just enter and do it for the experience - first time will be a mess no matter how much I prepare due to nerves and there are certain movement that we'll not manage OR do I wait until the next month or so when we'll have a new 60 x 20 arena at my yard and then prepare properly?
What do we think??
I'm thinking of just doing the prelim but wonder if I'm copping out a bit!

LOL You are being chicken!! There is nothing in it that you can't do!! Casper has a beautiful trot and really floats. If Katie thinks you are ready then you are. Do you want to pop up for a wee try? You will be fine - have faith in your wee star

Thanks J - I know I'm chickening - ideally I'd be practicing constantly to prepare and that's what scares me - going in unprepared - Katie was telling me what was in the test and I couldn't even concentrate as I felt sick at the through of it!
Would love to pop up and try it - my friend has copies of the test and we are hiring an arena tomorrow night so I'm going to at least start thinking about it - eeek!!

Good luck if you do the novice you should go for it,But i know what you mean when you say you don't want to be unprepared but if your RI says you are ready for it she must believe in you.

Go for it.
There is no harm in trying it.
Novice 20 is a nice test so go for it. You wont know until you have tried.
Goood luck ;D

just go for it! If you can't practice onboard then just learn the test on foot (dressage round the livingroom is not uncommon for me) - at least if you know the test its one thing less to think about on the day
