Tod has a thing about snaffles. No matter what Ive put in his mouth he jams his jaw against it and leans either that or its head up and go. However in a pelham we have a polite pony who works nicely from behind into a soft contact. So do I battle the snaffle and do prelim/novice . Or do I just go straight into Elementry as we can do most of the moves, meaning I can use a double and I will have a bit more control.
Only doing dressage for a bit of fun for us to do something diffrent over winter.

Elementary is when you can start with double briddle. If he is schooling well and can do all the movements required then go for it!

i agree with magic if he goes better in double and you can do all the movements then go for it!!!! i definatly think its all to do with your mind (well it was for me) elementary isnt that scary it just asks a few more questions which most horses enjoy answering ha ha

Get him in a double Essendy and got for it!! Start with E44 or E42. Remember that you can't use a pelham for dresssage. SNEC Usually do one of these test. 44 just has one simple change and 42 has a tiny bit of counter canter. I had the same problem with know it all so had to do elem!!
