i have just been sent a schedule/flyer for this if anybody is interested EDRC “Express Eventing” Cross Country consists of knock-down Working Hunter style fences), “Combined Jumping”& Dressage Show 23rd August 2009 Scottish & Northern Ex Racehorse Club Highest Placed Ex Racehorse Awards These classes will run along the lines of British Eventing’s Express Eventing. Competitors will each ride a dressage test, have a changeover and rest period, and then complete a show-jumping round which is followed by a “cross country” round. There is a 5-10 minute period between the end of the show jumping for a safety check and breather before coming under starters orders at the cross country. There will not be sufficient time for any tack or dress change between jumping elements therefore competitors should present for both jumping phases in their cross country kit and colours. Cross country fences are of working hunter style and ALL will be knock-down. Each competitor will be given an allocated time to ride their dressage test, and a second time to start their consecutively run jumping elements. If you would like a copy of the schedule PM me your email address. I think it looks quite good and for those of you are not so confident the EE Novice starter is no higher than 2ft and the dressage test is a walk/trot test

We're entered but not sure if we'll complete it or not as P has never jumped a rustic fence in her life and we've only had 1 jumping session in the last year (last weekend!). Nothing like being prepared is there.

Casper is going - getting a bit nervous as we've never done rustic fences before and don't do much jumping but he was amazing at jump X earlier in the year and the wee bugger jumped 1mtr with me last wee (albeit unintentionally)!
It's our first ever event like this so I'm just going for the experience - we'll just take our time and try and have fun!

I'm starting to get very nervous about this now - eeek!!
I hope the weather dries up as I don't like the idea of jumping on wet grass!

Casp is barefoot and reasonably surefooted but may be a bit iffy if there are any downhill jumps so we'll probably have to take our time.
