Thanks GF & Co.! We had a lovely day out at the dressage today, Somerled was a dude, he got a 2nd & 1st in my sections - N22 & N33 He did a lovely N22 & came overall 5th over the restricted & open affil sections in N33 I overrode the medium & he broke into canter, then he decided he'd had enough of me and did a few naughties that resulted in a total of 3 fours on my test sheet, and some 5s for the sqaubbling around the 4s! But in generall I am very pleased with him, and have plenty to work on for next time (next week : And o my god what a craking medium trot I got before he broke ;D PS - Fred2's Fred is on the naughty step tonight ;D, I'm sure she'll fill us in later

i too had a nice day out - I thought fred went really good in N22 only had one muck up but partly my fault- all this side ways stuff and picking up counter canter from walk etc has confused him a bit and he got a wrong strike off - think i will just do simple stuff for a while!! but the judge was marking mega hard and I only got 55.?% - not happy with the % but still happy with the way he went. Well - N33 was in the outdoor arena and he has only ever worked in in that one before - spooky and he lost the plot big time so I giggled my way through it with god knows how many bucks and he just wouldn't listen to me at all - at least i know i can still sit his bucks!! when he is in that sort of mood nothing you can do but laugh,if get after him he just gets stroppy and worse - think i should have got a 10 for entertainment!! but the strange thing was he got 54% - so to say i am a bit confused with how judges are trained for him to do a goodish test and a really bad one and only 1% of a difference i can't understand it. But it was a good day and i cought up with folk. mega sore back before N33 but after the bucks it is a lot worse - PP told me to go home and go to bed!! well done PP

;D ;D ;D - err - room for improvement then? ;D quote] Believe me Kate, that was an improvement! my last attempt at N33 I got 2 x 0 for the same movements !!! SO yesterday felt a big improvement! LOL!!! N33 seems to be my bogey test at the moment, but after yesterday I feel we have turned a corner, the competition is secondary really I just want him to enjoy it, be obedient & stay relaxed. Fred, I had exactly the same problem as you with S, he has also got to the point he knows exactly what I want him to do whether I agree or not!!! I back right off any funcy stuff before a comp, otherwise he offers it to me at every opportunity! A judge who sat in for one of my tests said that we looked "comfy in our comfort zone but I need to push him much harder to be more active and carry himself more" that was very helpful advice, and in fairness I have heard that a lot recently It was such a friendly competition yesterday, it took me hours to get away as a lot of people came out to watch, and I couldn’t get away for people talking to me…

Ah horses, they keep us grounded if nothing else - well and poor!!
Well done on your placings PP!
As long as you were both pleased with them, I find that is a good way to get my spirits back after a poor score. "Did I Like..... yes.....b******s to the judge then"!!!!! As you said Fred2, working out what makes them tick is an interesting challenge!
