I would probably say two or three bales? It seems such a waste though as you wont be able to take it with you...

I am going to get square bales of straw - stables cost enough far less adding on 3 bales of shavings on top - straw much cheaper

When i went to Ingliston they allready had all the stables made up, with some sort of straw/wood based chippings. Even put hay in their mangers also offered us feed when they were feeding their lot and all for £20 a night!

And we're only £7.50 a night to include all bedding and hay/haylege......it's definitely worth the 3 miles trek! ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

I rang the guy who's providing bedding at Dabbs, and he was very helpful - said you can take as much as you want (shaivngs £5 a bale) - like one and a half, you don't have to take whole bales. I registered with him and he said tojust phone him when you arrive and he'll turn up and give you as much as you want. The stables aren't huge (like 10 x 12 he thought: very glad I have a small horse) so won't need vast quantities.

I have 6 square bales of straw got for 50p a bale - hopefully that will be enough as Donna said the boxes are on cinder type of hardstanding so white legs will get black!!

If we had straw Ammie would just eat it and get colic ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) I think 10x12 isn't too bad for stable sizes, compared to some of the temporary stabling i've been in before... ![:-X](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/lipssealed.png)

Im not staying overnight - just using my stable to keep him in for the day. Do you think I should still put down shavings / straw??
