Muirmill & Jumps are my least favorites. Muirmill is needing a serious cash injection to improve the surface and lighting. Jumps has been in a steady decline for years although their new indoor school is better. Dabbs could be a cracking centre witha bit of time, effort and hard work. I must admit though that I'm a bit spoiled by Ingliston & Rowallan.

Has to be Devon Leisure for me - that goat for a start! And the dug up outdoor school which has been like that for years, rubbish gallery, and the most AWFUL surface i have ever ridden on! I won't go now, Championships or not...

I dont like Dabbs much. The indoor arena is lovely but the work in area is so dark & dingy. The outdoor work in arena is so deep and full of stones, Iona hates it.

Echo onipony - the outdoor school at Dabbs is the most awful thing ever to ride in!! It very hard to warm up at Dabbs and keep your horse clean!!! I don't have anywhere dislike alot - have been put off Dabbs slightly after the Masters!! I think we are quite lucky up north as well - I like Faraways surface and it quite a clean place also - ie, car park all hard standing etc! Goval got great facilities as well esp with having the shop on site also now!!

Not a competition venue but Hayfield when we were there at the beginning of the year was appalling - how it's still got its BHS approval is beyond me.
No outside lighting - this was the middle of winter so pitch black, the school surfaces are 100% broken down poo, lighting was so covered in pigeon sh*t & dust that we could only just see no 1 son through the gloom, pigeon sh*t on every surface we touched, broken concrete yard, mud - the place is a deathtrap & I appreciate the reasons why but they're taking good money off people & expecting them to put up with something like out of a 1970's child's pony book.
Faraway is such a pain to get too but otherwise good although the indoor school has been known to flood, otherwise it's usually dusty but they do seem to water it these days.
I like Govals - I prefer the indoor surface to Faraway's as it's a bit firmer, no doubt due to the driving.

When we went to see Beau ridden at Hayfield last year it was attrocious. Horses standing in s**t, 13 yr old kids running around swearing, I dont remember it being like that back in the 90's!! I liked the old surface at the indoor school at goval - loked like red sandy/woodchippy stuff. Beau went really well on it, and it was apparently quite comfy when u hit it hard ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) - not that I ever fall off of course.

It wasn't like that in 2000 when hubby & I last rode there either, although even then the small indoor school surface was a bit mank - the problem with turning all the ponies out in it overnight.

OK My worse venue was fieldings as it could be so much better set out and i remember the chaos that happened at the ormiston show one year with the lack of parking!

Oh wasnt that a fun show Alison, police and everything there because of the parking, lorries and trailers in all the side streets, the community centre car park & everywhere. Its much better now Edith has moved it though the rings werent too good this year. I actually like Fieldings for taking youngsters for dressage as the warm up is beside the arenas so they dont get so upset when it is their turn.

I hate Devon Leisure Centre! It has been the venue for the Scottish Arab Group Show for the last few years and it's dreadful. The surfaces are awful to ride on, much less do In Hand on, the indoor school is dark and dismal. The parking is dire, and there isn't enough warm up areas. I have complained till I'm blue in the face to the SRG about this, but they seem to think it is perfectly acceptable!! It's probably why there are never huge entries to that show.

By the way Alison, I like your picture GM9882! We took it at Gilmerton last year. We didn't attend there this year, but hope to be back next year. Incidentally, we don't allow photo's to be downloaded from our website!
