Sorry, I've already posted in Members Chat but then found this section and thought it might be better in here. Still finding my way about!
Could anyone recommend any yards in Fife area? I'll be living in Dunfermline and working in Rosyth so something around that sort of area would be fantastic although don't mind travelling a bit further for a good yard.
I have 2 mares and ideally would like DIY with perhaps the option of assisted DIY.
In an ideal world it would be a small-ish yard with clean year round turn out, safe, secure fencing and safe, dry stables. Off road hacking and a good (flood lit) school. It doesn't have to be flash just comfortable and chilled out for my girls.
Also if anyone knows of yards that should be avoided in this area could you please PM me so I have a heads up.
Thank you for your help ;D

There is a new yard opened Thornton that's supposed to be very nice. I had intentions of checking it out this weekend when i'm here but not sure if that will be too far for you

I have deleted your other 2 threads, so that all replies can be concentrated in one place There are a few livery yards in the area, but not all might fit your specific requirements. Bouprie at Aberdour has excellent facilities but is quite large, The Barns at Dalgety Bay is smaller but maybe does not have such good facilities, Anne Steedman's at Dalgety Bay is small, has a school etc but is DIY only so any help would have to be arranged with other liveries. I might be in a position to take an extra livery next winter, but would have to have reduced my own numbers more by then so wouldn't like to committ to anything just now, and I am a bit further away too. eirewhisper might be better at pointing you in the direction of anyone on the west side of Dunfermline.

Thanks My friend is at help4horses and loves it but I prefer to be more hands on and see to them myself. DIY assisted is about as "hands off" as I can cope with!! ha ha. Full livery last winter did not work out well for me!! Heard mixed reports about Bouprie; will no doubt go and look but it's not high on the list atm. Didn't realise how big it is either. PB - do you have numbers for any of the places you mentioned? Thanks for deleting my other thread Where about are you based? I have 2 and ideally looking to move them June/July time.

There is wester deadhead at kelty which wld have off road hacking. There is a yard at gellybank cleish which a few friends are on and like they do diy. Not too sure what hacking is like though. The huts at kinross is quite a big yard but has lots of facilities. Think that's it. I woukd have suggested our yard but it's full as of the end of the week and it's near glenrothes.

the yard i am at is really good, Its two yards split by fields, all fields are perminant electric fencing with all year turnout (my boys live out but also have a stable if i want it) flood lit arena, jumping paddock (when its dry) and we are right in the middle of the forest so miles and miles of off road hacking. I can give you the number if you like? oh its DIY but he will feed in the morning for you and will also turn out by arrangement.

Duckhill Cottage, small private yard, between Cairneyhill & Oakley, has stables & floodlit outdoor school, Winter field has a shelter
(there's another small yard across from that one too, not sure they'd have space though)
The Spowart family have one in Oakley, got an outside school, just had new stables built recently.
Another of the Spowart brothers has another wee yard in Inzievar woods, also Oakely, lovely hacking, four or five stables, very small school (last time i was there anyway). Tapitlaw in Comrie - not been there for ages so not sure how it's going these days. Langfaulds, near Saline, lots of grazing, a nice big indoor school, & cross country jumps, hacking-wise it is on a very fast road.
Another one just up from there (not Terry's but further up same side), has outdoor school, nice stables
On Kincardine road, past entrance to Devilla, outdoor school, barnstyle stables, excellant hacking as on edge of forest
There's another one in Cairneyhill too - again a small yard, dont know much about it but know someone there so could find out
Will keep thinking ......

My goodness-most of the ones in Fife seem to have been mentioned already! Theres also the Downies yard at Milesmark (not sure if they have a DIY option but they're really nice folk if you wanted to call them) I can highly recommend the one that Jenwalsh & me are at though, one of us can give u the number-theres spaces as someones just left our yard too
